This is a large-scale acrylic painting on canvas and is based on a location close to where I live, near the city of Ely. This particular scene is very typical of the Cambridgeshire Fenlands with the ubiquitous tilted telegraph poles and intense yellow of the rapeseed fields. Some of you will be surprised by how different this is from my abstract work but I have no difficulty in exploring a range of painting styles and approaches. It is relatively unusual for me to work representationally, but just occasionally I have a desire to recreate a specific scene. I am delighted that this piece has just been bought by a collector from Bury St Edmunds.
